Cesar Estrada Chavez, better known as just Cesar Chavez was a Mexican-American who was born on March 31, 1927 in Yuma Arizona. Chavez was the second out of the five children Librado and Juana Chavez had. Cesar was a very hardworking boy, taking on duties at a family farm. Feeding/watering animals and collecting water were just some of the things Cesar was responsible for. However, as a Depression in the country intensified, and years of drought accompanied, Chavez and his family were forced to make a change in there way of living. It was 1937, at only 10 years of age, Cesar and his family would see themselves forced to make a move to California. There they would seek a job. Unfortunately the move and the effort to proceed was not enough. People would move from farm to farm, harvest to harvest but it all seemed to be the same. Working conditions were horrifying and working privileges were minimal, in fact there were no privileges at all. Payment was just a joke, many of the families didn't have enough to even eat. Farmers were treated without respect. It was not only Chavez but also many other families who were living under the same situations.
